The little guy got a lesson in "roughing it"- bundling up and staying around the fireplace to keep warm, using candles at night, eating cold/lukewarm food, and melting snow for drinking water on the propane grill. Hudson took it all in stride and maintained the most positive outlook of anyone in the cabin! He was happy to simply have the attention of his beloved grandparents, parents, and dogs. His Mommy and Daddy aren't even sure he noticed that anything out of the ordinary was going on.
With the cabin temperature dropping below 50F and the forecast calling for even colder weather and snow tonight, the Youngers decided they had to get down the mountain today. Thankfully, some workers cleared the larger debris from the road late yesterday and the morning sun melted some of the ice. Hudson's Daddy carefully navigated his Nonna's car to the base of the mountain where a tow truck was able to get it. Then everyone else squeezed into the remaining two cars and headed back to civilization. It was a bit harrowing navigating the ice and power lines, but Hudson's Daddy and Grandpa Ray Yankee did a great job driving.
Now that the little guy is back on his own turf, it's life as usual... playing with toys, stuffing his face with pizza, splashing in the bath... Home sweet home!!!
