All Aboard!

Hudson and Celia had a big surprise this morning.  Their Mommy and Daddy towed them in the Burley to brunch at Parker and Otis (yum!) and then to the Durham Amtrak station to watch the Piedmont train arrive from Raleigh.  However, instead of moving out of the way for the departing passengers (as usual), the Youngers got in line to board.  Hudson said, "we can't get on the train!!" Just then, his Mommy pulled out tickets to show him.  His eyes lit up and he could barely contain his excitement.  Woo hoo!

With Mommy and Daddy smug about their successful surprise, off the family went (one stop) to Burlington.  The kids loved meeting the conductor and visiting the snack car (for obvious reasons).  The Burlington station turned out to be a pretty cool place to spend an hour, too.  Burlington is home to the North Carolina Railroad and the station area is a renovation of the original Company Shops town.  There are some exhibits and even an old caboose.

The station agent at Burlington was also super nice.  He gave the kids train whistles and invited them to come back for National Train Day in May.  They agreed immediately!  What a fun trip!
