Durham was hopping today, despite the oppressive humidity, which was good considering this was "Day 1" for Daddy and the kids sans Mommy. The morning started off early, with what has become the standard "Holden wake-up call/BARK" at 5 AM. Thankfully, Hudson and Celia seem to be oblivious to all of the racket coming from downstairs in those pre-dawn hours. The rest of the house finally woke up between 6:15 AM (Celia) and 7:15 AM (Hudson) and quickly gathered their things, loaded up the Burley trailer, and headed out for a sweaty ride to Elmo's for breakfast with Nonna.
After stuffing their stomachs with pancakes, grits, eggs, and toast, the gang loaded up and headed to the Museum of Life & Science for Bubble Blitz!
And if that wasn't enough, on the ride home, the kids were rewarded with a view of two events in downtown Durham...the Tour de Fat (next year, my friend...next year) and a "Cruise-in" at King's Sandwhich Shop that included 10-15 vintage hot rods parked in front and a live band! Upon arriving home, Daddy discovered that his passengers had sacked out in the Burley
With the cat nap in the Burley, Celia refused to nap and the kids spent the afternoon tearing apart the playroom together...oh, the destruction!
Dinner was a special treat at Moe's Southwest where Hudson and Celia devoured their food and then got to spend a few minutes outside at the fountain.
With Day 1 in the bag, Daddy is heading off for a shower before retiring early. Day 2 will be here before you know it!
