Hudson and Celia marked the end of 2011 with an even busier-than-usual month filled with holiday festivities - Durham's Fun Fest, the holiday market at Guglhupf, Holiday Express at Pullen Park, a playgroup holiday party, and Christmas Eve dinner at Nonna's house. They got to see their Gramzi and Grandpa Ray Yankee twice, once when they came to visit at the start of the month, and again in the Bronx for a few days between Christmas and New Year's. What fun!
Celia has gone from saying only a few words last month to trying out several new ones each day. On New Year's morning she began saying "HAPPY!" and has been repeating it frequently. She can also name several animals (horse, cow, goat, dog, cat, etc.) and say "choo choo" when she sees a train. Her most frequent word is "NO!" - it comes in very handy when presented with vegetables or when someone tries to do something for her. Celia is quite a cuddler lately and will happily take a short break from an activity to sit in the lap of whoever is willing to hold her. It's as though she's recharging; when finished, she hops up and gets back into action.
Hudson's imagination has gotten so complex recently. In addition to having a growing list of things to be afraid of at night, he's also making up hilarious stories. He keeps a running dialogue as he plays with Legos and other toys. Today he had out the airplane Uncle Jeff got him for Christmas and was overhead saying, "stand clear of the closing doors, please." If you've ridden the New York City subway, the refrain will be familiar! The little guy has also been a naughty imp for the last few weeks. His teachers say the kids all act up this time of year, so his parents are hopeful that it's a short phase. Cross your fingers!
