Farm Tour

Hudson and his buddies Leif, Max, and Nathaniel spent the afternoon with their parents on the Carolina Farm Stewardship's annual Piedmont Farm Tour. Our first stop was Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute where the boys met horses, pigs, goats, and chickens. Hudson was especially drawn to the farm's power supply - a huge solar panel and wind turbine.

Next up was Maple View Farms for some ice-cream and a visit to their Agriculture Center. There, the boys got to meet some cuddly (and suprisingly tolerant) baby goats, as well as a 1-week old duckling, an alpaca, and chickens.

We only got to see a small sampling of the 40 farms on the tour. Hudson says, "We'll be back next year!!"
